Vietnamese Songs have my heart

As you may know I absolutely love music, especially pop songs and aesthetic songs, but one type of song that I absolutely love is Vietnamese songs. Throughout my childhood, I had Vietmanese songs surrounding me, because of my viet inheritance. I absolutely love the style of vietnamese music because it’s kind of country and classical. The melody of each song is really catchy and it’s really soothing to listen to. It’s also great to listen to if you want to fall asleep. To me there are three types of viet songs. The first one is children’s music, where they sing about anything and everything, basically kindergarten music. The second one is adult love and it’s basically about love, but it’s not like the type of music playing now where they only sing about women and sex. This type of music talks good about women and it’s refreshing to hear things like that because I hate hearing songs where they only talk about doing the dirty. The last type of music is vpop. It’s kind of like kpop but I think it’s better because I myself understand it and it’s not as common. This type of music if you don’t know is pop songs and it’s really energetic.

Some of those songs from those categories I’m going to show you now. For the country and classical the song is LK Chieu Xuan & Thi Tham Mua Xuan and it’s a song that’s about spring. I know this isn’t one of the categories but it is a classical song. Another song I want to talk about is a vpop song that I recently found is Chung Ta Khong Thuoc Ve Nhau and it’s a song that’s about a guy who wants to kind the perfect girl so he creates his own girl, kind of like a robot. I love this song because again it’s a pretty clean song and it’s catchy. I totally recommend listening to these songs because they’re actually good songs.

A Passionate One

This week I want to this really special song that I never get tired of. It’s called Lights Down Low by Max featuring gnash. This song if you listened to t sounds sexual because it’s called “Lights Down Low” after all, but to me it’s a song that talks about a guy who really loves this one girl who I think doesn’t love him back. Through the relationship that they went to this guy never heard an “I Love You” from her or the same energy back in the relationship. Basically he’s the only one putting in any effort and the only way he can get to her is through sexual tension, and he tells her he’ll do anything to get her to love him hence the name of the song. Another idea on this song is that I think the idea of spending the rest of your life together with one person is amazing, but the idea of losing that person is scary, I really think that’s one of the purpose of that song because a lyric called “Heaven doesn’t know where you’ve been” and throughout the beginning of that song it talks about angels.

I think a lot of people can relate to this song because there are some teenagers that are going to the phase where they like or in a relationship where they really like that person but they don’t feel like that person feel the same way, and that could really affect someone since it sometimes feel like you’re physically losing someone. Sometimes it’s not even a person they like, it could be a best friend or a family member, just someone throughout time that they feel is getting mentally farther away from them, and it just hurts you know.

This song is a pretty upbeat song, but I feel at the same time it’s a slow song to. In this song there’s guitar which I think sets the slow part of the song, but there’s this drumset in the background that really brings the song to a more up beat song. These type of songs are my favorite, the ones that make sense, upbeatish, and actually has lyrics that make sense. I hate songs that are just sad, depressing, and just really slow because I can’t stand listening to it because it’s boring. I feel like sad songs should be ore passionate to express their feelings instead of them singing like they’re defeated.

Aesthetics

Aesthetic means the pleasant positive or artful appearance of a person or a thing, like for example an old vintage jacket which shares many old tales being worn worn one owner to the next, also the style vintage is very classy and dressy showing an “aesthetic” look. Well today I want to show a very aesthetic song that’s just positive and just sends a good vibe which is honestly the same thing but you get what I’m trying to say. The song I want to show people is Love me Please by Octavio.

Even though this is an amazing song, no one really knows it. This song has about 8,000 viewers on youtube and the artist only has 2500 subscribers, compared to the many artists these days with millions of views and subscribers. I also heard this other channel was promoting this song and got 200,000 views but the artist still didn’t get any views in return and it’s sad because this artist deserves more attention with the music he releases. Legit that other channel just copied that song but the artist got no attention, but a lot of people heard it at least.

This song is a great song that just gives a great valentine’s day vibe and just makes you want to sway from side to side in a different world thinking about someone you’re missing or wanting.someone to be with you if you know what I mean. I think this would be a great song for lovesick teenagers who need their hopes up.

Some of the lyrics I love is “I love you the way that your mother does protect you the way that your father does It’s so easy if you choose me” This lyric I feel is really powerful because you can just feel how longing they are for that person. I can’t say for many people that don’t have parents anymore or the people who don’t have supportive parents, but the way the lyrics were said I can just feel it myself. I ten out of ten reccommend this song to anyone who needs a song to comfort from a broken or longing heart. ❤

Sad hours :(

As I transition into the age where most teenagers become old enough to develop things like depression and anxiety from school or more personal things, they come to music or to be more specific, sad music. Music about being a “better world”. To be honest I’m a pretty happy person compared to most teenagers these days who to be honest take everything to offense and break down whenever something bad happens to come their way, based on what I’ve seen a lot of days, but there are also people who are strong, who keep it together for people they love the most. Those people I admire and really hope to be one day, but we’re all human so it’s okay to break down and lean on for support with either someone to talk to or drown yourself in music that reminds yourself that people out there have it worse than you and you should feel privileged to live. That’s what I’m here to talk about today. This one song is called “A little Too Much” by Shawn Mendes.

This song unlike a lot of songs these days aren’t sexual, and I love that about this song. The singer Shawn Mendes is a very popular singer who suffers from anxiety or depression, and I honestly don’t know based on a lot of different things a bunch of websites would state. This song talks about a guy who would watch this girl from far away and always hears how an independent woman she is and how she never lets anything get in her way. One powerful line that really hits me is “Sometimes it all gets a little too much, but you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up,” and honestly I think that many people can relate to this line. Another powerful line from this song is, “But when it got hard she would lose her focus. So take my hand and we’ll be alright,” and that is where people don’t realize there are many people out there to help them, people who are a text away, people you lost connections with but they’ll always be there for you. A lot of the time people think they’re in it by themselves and there’s no one to talk to which I think is pretty selfish for thinking that in the first place, but that’s what a lot of people are.

A SONG TO VIBE TO

I don’t know about some people, but I’m still not over the fact of my childhood decade coming to an end. During those ten years I listened to a lot of songs that whenever listening to it right now, I always remember some specific memory that I had with that specific song. One song that I would like to talk about is LOVE by Kendrick Lamar and Zacari. This song came out in 2017 which to be fair isn’t that long ago, but it was like when I was in sixth grade when I started getting into a different genre of music.

This song is refreshing to listen to and just hits different if you’re like at a beach, park, or just chilling somewhere where you’re right out in that fresh air, if that makes sense. This song has a great beat that makes you want to sway from side to side and no matter what you never get tired of it. This song is the type of song you would listen to while driving on a freeway with the windows down feeling that fresh, cool breeze on your skin. No cars in front of you and behind you and you’re just driving towards a pretty, golden sunset.

I’ve also had many memories with that song to. There was this one time in 6th or 7th grade where we were heading home from a park and during that time there was a program for children where they had games, raffals, and food. We were heading home all sticky from playing all day and this song would come up and with the windows down feeling the wind against our burnt skin felt so nice.

Another memory I had with this song was when I first got my phone which was towards the end of eighth grade and so I downloaded spotify, a platform where you can listen to music on your phone for free, and the first song I added to my first playlist was this song because back then that was my ultimate song I would listen to. Since I didn’t have premium, I would make one playlist where I added only this song like 20 times so that I can listen to it repeatedly. If you were wondering premium was a feature where you would pay like 10 dollars per month and you can choose whichever song you wanted to listen to without having to wait for that certain song you wanted to listen to.

That’s why it’s another one of my favorite songs of all time, because it sends good vibes wherever you are or what your situation is.

My Cheerleader

As you can tell from my last two posts, you can probably tell that I’m not over that we’re finally in 2020 and I’m still hanging onto my childhood, but honestly those were the good times. Just like the last two posts, I want to tell about another song. That song is Cheerleader by OMI.

It’s a song that talks about nothing compares to you and how that special person is always there for them, but if I’m being honest the meaning of the song doesn’t really hit me as a kid but how catchy it was. There were many memories I had with this song and whenever I hear it, it always reminds me of those times where I was a carefree child with no stress and worries. Those were the good days.

This is the type of song that would make you want to dance and sing. This song is a pop song with guitars, bongo drums, and a trumpet, that would for sure make you want to dance and sing.

Even though this song was released in 2012, I barely heard it in 2016. The first time hearing it was at my school’s end of the year party for all the studious and well behaved kids. That year they had a hawaiin theme and they created like a luau. They had games, a barbeque, prizes, and a dj. When we were heading towards the table to eat our barbeque, the dj decided to play cheerleader and I instantly fell in love with the quick and fun song. When I came home from school, I literally searched all of the lyrics of the song I remembered and found the song instantly. I remember I would put that song on repeat on my ipad on full volume while I would be doing homework. I would do that everyday while I was doing homework until it was the last day of school. Even though I had no homework and it was summer break, I would make a playlist on youtube and every time I go to my grandma’s house since she has a pool, I would play it on her speaker while I swam.

This is the type of song that you can have on repeat and I would never get tired of even til this year. That’s why it’s probably one of my favorite song. I recommend listening to it.

One of the Best Bands, Throwback

As we head onto the new year, 2020, I like to listen to some Throwbacks to remind me of my childhood. One great band that always have had my heart is a band called “One Direction”. During when I was in 3rd grade, we would have a party each month to celebrate our attendance, so during lunch our teacher would call us in to eat snacks and play Just Dance. While we would dance there would be a list where we would put all the songs that we would want and the teacher would play, which all the girls would put One Direction songs repeatedly, which as time goes on the American Boy Band stole my heart.

One of my favorite songs from them is, “What makes you beautiful” and that song is really cheesy and talks how the artist loves the specific things from the girl. All the girls would be fangirling about the song how it was so cute and honestly I might’ve been fangirling it to. Looking back on that song, it was really cheesy but honestly that type of songs stole my little heart when I was in 3rd grade.

Another one of my favorite songs is “Live while we’re young” and it’s a song explaining how that they’re in love and they shouldn’t waste time with the limited time they have left. The setting takes place at a summer camp and than when it’s over they go their separate ways.

The last song that I want to mention is one last song called “One Thing” and it talks about how that person is always on their mind and they can’t live without them and that instead of that person being in their mind they should spend time with them and get to know them.

When the band broke up and headed their separate ways, I was heartbroken just like the other 10 year olds that thought they had a chance with them and they would be their future boyfriends in the future.

Honestly looking back at it, the songs sound like something out of a musical, and they were pretty predictable but it’s something that any typical 10 year old would love.

Stereo Hearts

As the new decade is here, everyone is listening to throwbacks in memory of their childhood. Some people even have playlists just for throwbacks just like me.

Even though there are many songs that I would consider throwbacks, one of my favorites is “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine.

There are many reasons why this is one of my favorite songs starting with memories from my childhood. I remember whenever it was summer where it was hot and sticky, we would go to my grandma’s house to chill there because she has a pool. We would end up turning that to a pool party where all the children, aunts, and uncles would swim and later come up for steak my grandpa would barbecue. While all of this would be happening, my aunt would but a bunch of songs up and everyone would be dancing and singing.

Another memory was when we would be on a family trip to the beach during the summer and we would play this song on the aux and me and my cousins would sing and dance in our seats as if the seatbelts couldn’t hold us back from creating the space in the car into our very own concert.

Also one last memory I remember clearly was whenever my aunt would come back from college for leaving for about 4 months, we would have a “sleepover” and we would jam to this song.

Whenever I hear this song on the radio or on my playlist, I would remember all the memories I had with this song and how carefree we were when we were young compared to now where we’re a big mess and stressed over how many things we have to do.

It’s crazy to think that this decade so many of us would be growing up, graduating from college, finding jobs, maybe even having children which is a scary thought to many of us. We might be growing up, but we will remember every memory we ever had with each individual song. Throwbacks just hit different, because when we were little we never know what they’re trying to say or the meaning behind that song, but since it sounds nice and you can easily bop to it, you just go with it and sing your little hearts out.
