This week I want to talk to you about a song that’s kinda special to me. This song isn’t an english song that I’ve been posting about. This is a vietnamese song, where I’m from. It’s not a Vpop song, but more of a traditional/slow song. The name of the song is Hay Ve Day Ben Anh by Duh Manh. It was an actual struggle to actually find the actual owner of this song because there are many covers to this song and yes I listen to them. The person that does this cover that I listen to is Jaykii. He made this rather country song into more of a modern slow love song, which I think is a better fit to these lyrics.
The title translated in english is “Please come back to me” and the lyrics are really amazing. Some of my favorites from this song is, “There are many nights where I dream of us holding hands, choked up on the things we want to say.” Another lyric from this song is, “The years have passed and I am still waiting, Where are you now? Won’t you return to my side?” As you can see these lyrics are very meaningful and I think they’re better when you listen to them in vietnamese. There are also many jokes to this song like how this song is the Viet’s national anthem, it’s not, which at times I consider it is, since it’s such a great song and everyone that’s viet knows it.
I’ve also had many memories with this song like when I would be eating a snack or watching tv as a little kid and my dad would come home from work and would sing this song while entering the front door. My mom would notice and would smile and he would come over to hug her. I thought it was the cutest thing ever and I wished that would be my relationship when I grow up. You should totally listen to this song if you want a cute slow song that’ll get you in the lovey dovey vibe.
