For this week of quarantine, I want to share another song, a rather sad song in fact. The song I want to talk about is called “The story never ends” by Lauv. Lauv is a really special artist to me because he’s one of my favorite artists of all time ever since 6th grade because that was when I started getting into music. He’s a really genuine artist who releases songs that I could personally relate to and they aren’t sexualized towards women or racist or anything like that which I really love about him. Some of my favorite songs from him are “I like me better” or “chasing fire”.
Enough with his other songs, I want to talk about this song alone. The first time I ever heard it was actually through a sad playlist created by someone on spotify. It reminded me of the aftermath of a breakup. Of course I’ve never experienced a break up or have come close to something like that, but I do know a little of heart pain and it does hurt. This song is about how after the break up the ex gave him all the blame and wish they never met, and I guess in that relationship one of them put more effort and was more loving than the other. Some of my favorite lyrics from that song was “But go ahead give me all the blame, twist my words and set them to flames.” I feel like out of the entire song, those were the most powerful lyrics because after a relationship, people might lie with what might’ve happened to make them seem like the better person there, even though it may be their own fault. I can relate to that because I had this one friend that I had a good relationship with, until she did something horrible. That song reminded me of her and it saddens me after remembering all the good times I had with her.
I really recommend it to teens or young adults because even though they might still not know what love is, they are capable of showing love.
